I had posted on Facebook this week about the charity I'm a board member of, To Love A Child and their Maternal Health Program. I was so impressed with the outpouring of support! While many of you are on Facebook, there are some holdouts so I wanted to use this Friday post to talk a bit more about the need and a couple easy ways you can help.
Who is To Love A Child? TLC is a non-profit headquartered in Clifton Park that provides humanitarian assistance to impoverished children and their families throughout the world to help create a better future and quality of life for all. With programs in Haiti, Zimbabwe and here in the US, TLC works diligently to support its mission.

Haitian women in the Maternal Health Program
What is the Maternal Health Program?
One of TLC's focus area's for 2011 is healthy mama's and healthy babies. In Haiti, 1 out of 44 women die in pregnancy or childbirth. That is alarming. To Love A Child is taking measures to help with this situation by providing "Bundles of Love" birthing kits and "Bundles of Joy" newborn kits to the 50+ women in Haiti that are in our program.
HELP US to provide these kits by:
Collecting the items listed here
Sewing reusable menstrual pads or cloth drawstring bags
Helping us to assemble the kits and prepare them for shipment
If you can help, please contact me, colleen@maltamama.com or call Cindy the director of To Love A Child at 518-859-4424.
