I picked today to post about a very important topic, and that is charity. I am on the board of a local charity organization called To Love A Child. The work of this organization is extremely important to me because its primary focus is on the health and well-being of underpriviliged children in Haiti, Zimbabwe and here in the USA. I'm not going to get into everything that we do in this post, but we've just launched a new support campaign called Caring Hearts that I would like to tell you about.
We support the nearly 30 children that live at the Orphanage of Good Will in Haiti. The orphanage was destroyed in the January earthquake, but we've thankfully moved all the children to a temporary location until we can rebuild. We are the only organization providing support to this orphanage and these children. The support includes basic necessities such as food, water, shelter, clothing, etc. In addition to that Haiti site, we fund a pre-school in Zimbabwe and again, are the primary source of support. We need $1,000 per month to provide for these children. Help us to feed these children by committing money each month for their nutrition.
How can you help?
With your commitment of $10, $25, or $50 a month, we can feed these children! If you've been looking for a way to teach your children about giving to others, this may be the perfect opportunity. Kids can help by donating some of their allowance, selling some toys in a garage sale, having a lemonade sale, doing extra chores for money, etc. $10 a month to donate to help feed children is not a lot. It may mean skipping Dunkin' Donuts once or twice a month, eating out less, buying generic/store brands, clipping coupons, or any other ways to save a few bucks. If you have any questions at all about this program, email me colleen@maltamama.com and I'd be happy to help. I personally donate and it is very rewarding to know that my money is feeding children.
Payments may be made by:
Mail: To Love a Child, PO Box 165, Clifton Park, NY 12065
PayPal: www.toloveachild.org or Credit Card: call 518-859-4424
Thank you for considering this important initiative!
