I know it's only Monday, but I can't wait for Saturday!

I wanted to give you ample notice about an event on Saturday that I think you will love. I’ve mentioned them before, but local charity To Love a Child out of Clifton Park is teaming up with Northern Lights (concert venue in Clifton Park) to host a Haiti benefit concert on Saturday, January 30th.

The event will take place at Northern Lights, Route 146 Clifton Park and runs from 3pm-9pm. Tickets are just $10 and all proceeds benefit To Love a Child. Oh, and children under 10 are free!

As if that weren’t enough, here are the awesome bands that are going to be performing: Garland Nelson and Soul Session; Captain Squeeze and the Zydeco Moshers, Vivid and Cryin’ Out Loud. There will be a bounce house, food, a bake sale, raffles and face painting for the kids.

Buy your tickets at the box office anytime this week, or just show up on Saturday! For more information, call 396-9082.

Love a child? Please consider a donation for Haiti

The devastation in Haiti is beyond words. I’m not going to re-hash any of the recent coverage or go in depth, but I do want to pass some important donation information along. For those that may not know, my husband Jude was in Haiti with a local mission team during the earthquake. The mission trip was a cooperative effort with St John’s Episcopal Church in Troy, RPI, and the local Clifton Park charity group To Love A Child. He and the team arrived home on Saturday night and we are overjoyed to have them back home safe.

If you haven’t donated to any Haiti relief efforts, I strongly encourage you to do so. You may feel that your $10 or $20 donation won’t do much, but that is far from true; especially when you are dealing with a smaller organization like To Love A Child. TLAC is doing some great work around the world and every penny that is donated goes to helping those in need. If you can find it in your heart to give back, this is a great channel to consider.
