I'm kicking off the Mama-Giveaway-A-Day with a beautiful piece of jewelry from an amazing local artisan.  I met Bonnie Lee from The FamiLee Jewels while doing a story for Our Towne Malta.  I saw her beautiful pieces of jewelry, all unique and created from salvaged pieces of history, and I knew I had to convince her to do a giveaway!

Happy Mother's Day too.  Next week on MaltaMama, we'll start celebrating Mother's Day a little early.  Come back for exciting giveaway announcements all week.  I know there are so many deserving mama's out there and if I could give you all gifts I would.  Because I can't, I'm giving all of you many opportunities to win something special for Mother's Day.

An outdoor Easter Egg Hunt sounds good in theory, but with this wacky weather we've been having, it could be risky.  This Saturday at Afrim's Sports in Colonie, The Children's Guide is hosting their 3rd annual Easter Egg Hunt.  The event goes from 12-2pm and is $3 per child.  I know there will be lots of great vendors on site, including MaltaMama faves Binx and Foxy Baby Designs. .
Activities include: Soccer tots, a bounce zone, dodgeball for kids 6 and older, Time Warner Wii Station, and of course the main attraction - egg hunt! 
Schauber Stables iwill also be there witha petting zoo outside for kids to see some chicks, goats and more!  Sounds like a good time for all ages.

This Saturday, April 23rd is Eco Day at the Saratoga National Historic Park (Battlefield) in Schuylerville.  This park is beautiful if you haven't been.  Great place for a hike, walk, bike, picnic with the kids.

This final day of Earth Week events features multiple demonstrations and exhibits on environmental and ecological technology.

Also featured:
"Songs of Nature and the Land" with Linda Russell --A musical look at people's relationship with the environment, from colonial times until the present.
Here are directions to the park if you need.  If it's a nice day, this would be a fun way to honor the earth!

The other event on Saturday is Taft Furniture's Annual Electronics Recycling.  

School vacation week is a good time to hit up an elementary school playground!  That is, if the weather holds out.  Last year I wrote about the Ballston Spa Elementary School Playgrounds, but there are tons of other great options.  View all the options in my Parks & Playgrounds series.  If you have a place you'd like me to 'review', let me know!    (colleen@maltamama.com)

You'll probably want to register today for this event, but on Thursday, the 21st, the Ballston Spa Library is offering an event for Pre-K - 5th graders called Aunt Helen's Closet.  Join storyteller Ellen Mnich at 2pm and travel the globe with her Aunt Helen's artifacts.  Learn about different countries and cultures through souvenirs and clothes and even play dress up!  Pre registration is required, so stop in or call 885-5022.
