Saratoga County Restaurant Week is back for a second year.  It starts this Friday, March 18th and ends on Sunday, March 27th.   During this 10-day celebration of Saratoga County restaurants, you’ll find three course fixed price meals for $20.11 at a variety of participating restaurants in Saratoga County.  Here's the list of all participating restaurants.  
It's a good way to experiment with a new place!  Let me know where you go.  Bloomers and Bentley's Tavern are two Malta spots to consider! 

Looking for a special way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day but don't have a sitter lined up for the pub crawl?  Check out these St. Patrick’s Day Programs at the Round Lake and Malta Library this week!  Sounds exciting right?  Actually, we went to the libraries New Year's Eve program for kids at the Clark House in Round Lake and it was quite fun!  RSVP's are not required but always appreciated.

This week is the Pass It On Children's Consignment sale in Albany!  The public days are Wednesday, March 16th to Saturday, March 19th.  Check the website for info if you are a expecting or a first-time parent.  You can register and shop a day early. 

You'll find a huge selection of gently used clothes, toys, books, gear, etc.

I've mentioned this before, but in addition to MaltaMama, I am also the managing editor for Our Towne Ballston Spa and Our Towne Saratoga.  The March issues are out right now and they have an Irish flair.  I'm especially proud of my Our Towne Saratoga because I delved into some West Side Saratoga history and uncovered some neat things about the Dublin neighborhood.  If you're out and about in Saratoga (Hannaford and the Library are two pickup spots), pick one up or check out the online version. 

Looking for a St. Patrick's Day activity?  The Clifton Park-Halfmoon Library has a program this Sunday for ages 3-8. 
Wear something green - come sing, hear stories, and MAYBE meet a real live leprechaun!! This is a drop-in program for families with children ages 3-8; no registration is necessary.

Opera Saratoga, (formerly Lake Goerge Opera Company) is presenting another Opera-to-Go Education Program with the first performance starting this Saturday in Saratoga.  Last year we went and saw Opera Saratoga's Three Little Pigs performance and it was fantastic.   This is something I highly recommend doing with kids as it exposes them to a different style of music, helps them develop an appreciation for the arts, and is just all around educational.  If that's not enough, the performance is free (they do accept donations)! 
“Jack and the Beanstalk” set to the music of Sir Arthur Sullivan. In this adaptation the characters discover that “You must treat other people the same way you would want other people to treat you!”

I know it seems miles away, but Friday night at Colonie Center is a Cabin Fever event featuring Radio Disney and a scavenger hunt in the mall.  Up for grabs are prizes including day passes to the Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation Center, a weekend getaway to the Great Escape Indoor Lodge & Water Park, and other prizes and gift card surprises. 

Has anyone been to the Ciccotti Center yet?  I've been meaning to go for about a year now and sadly have not made it.  The place looks super nice and if we lived closer, I'd probably have a membership there.  As an aside, I think their website is very sleek and nicely done.  Malta Community Center should take note.  WHEN I go, I will give my full report here.

Send dad or sitter to StarFish at the library, and go to the winery! 

The library seems an unlikely venue to enjoy a 'rock concert', but this Sunday, prepare yourselves for StarFish in Saratoga Library's Dutcher Community Room.  StarFish is a 5-piece rock band for kids.  They perform original classic-rock based tunes with kid-friendly lyrics.  They call themselves 'the greatest rock band in the world...for kids'.  I love the concept and am eager to hear the execution!
