Discover (or re-discover) the Jonesville Store

Aside from being a great lunch spot and gift shop, the Jonesville Store may just be the hottest new music venue!  Ok, that might be a stretch but they do have a neat lineup of live music on Friday and Saturday nights from 6:30-8:30pm.  It could be a fun evening for the kids or if you have a sitter, for mom and dad alone.
How to get there from Malta?  Take Northway exit 11 and turn right.  Drive 1 mile then turn left onto Eastline Road.  Drive 1.8 miles and the Jonesville Store will be on your right.

Tonight, Saturday January 16th: Charlie Morris (whoever that is) 6:30-8:30pm
Call: 518-877-0507 for more details

Zumba now offered at the Malta YMCA

Hips don’t lie and mine are definitely a little sore today from last night’s Zumba class at the Malta YMCA.  What is Zumba?  Taken from the Zumba website:  The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away.

It’s basically a fun and upbeat dance-style workout.  I had taken Zumba before, and the Malta instructor Stacey is my favorite teacher by far.  The class was packed with nearly 30 of us crammed into the small fitness room.  Thankfully the Malta Y will be finishing their expansion very soon (within a few weeks I think) and we will have a larger room for Zumba and the other classes.  Here’s the most recent fitness schedule for the Malta Y so you can get a sense of what classes they have.  I’ve taken a bunch and they are all great and included in your membership.

Zumba is offered every Thursday night from 5:30-6:30pm at the Malta YMCA.

I was never into the Crocs when they first hit the scene, but two summer's ago while pregnant, I sported a pair of Crocs flip flops just about every day.  The only thing preventing me from buying several pairs of Crocs flip flops was the price.  I know, it's early to think about sandals.  However, crocs.com is having an outlet sale where every outlet item is buy one get one FREE!   You can mix and match kids and adults, so your entire family can have happy feet.

Check out the crocs outlet sale and let me know what you score!

You can still enjoy sushi!

I don’t know much about sushi except for this:  It is delicious and best enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere.  Moms and dads, have you ever tried having a relaxing dinner out with kids in tow?  Here are two good area options if you have a sitter:
Sushi-Na in Clifton Park in St. John Plaza
Sakura also in Clifton Park near Marshall's

No sitter?  This past week I picked up sushi at the Malta Price Chopper twice.  (probably because I’m in there about four to five times a week it seems!)  If the sushi chef is there, he or she will make whatever you like. Even the pre-made items are fresh and yummy.  It was not like dining out, but with a little green tea and my toddler at bay, it was convenient and stress-free.
Have you had good sushi in the area?  Let us know!  Comment below or email

A few of my favorite things... Bargain Websites!

01/09/2010

I want to share a few resources I find to be extremely valuable as a mother.  There are four (to my knowledge) Bargain-a-day baby/kid sites that offer serious discounts on one or more items each day.  You may want to add these to your bookmarks or favorites and keep going back!  It may take a few weeks before anything is of interest to you, but I promise something will strike your fancy.  In no particular order:

Green Baby Bargains

MamaBargains

BabySteals & KidSteals

Eco Baby Buys

Each site works in a slighly different way with some offering one deal a day until it is sold out, and others offering deal after deal once one sells out.  If you see something you like, jump on it!  The hot itmes don't last long.

Happy Shopping everyone!

What's so great about Malta, NY?

If you're thinking 'nothing', you're wrong!

I'm going to start with the newly expanded Malta Community Center.  If you haven't already checked out the new facilities, you are missing out.  There is a neat little library with a room for the kids and lots of new titles and DVD's for adults.  Operating hours are a little wacky, so here goes: M-Th 9am-1pm & 4pm-8pm; Friday 2pm-7pm; and Saturday 9am-12pm.  Last time I checked they haven't added a story time or special programs, but I bet in the very near future they will.  Next time you're in there, ask about it!  If enough of us mom's and dad's inquire, they will definitely add something.

The focul point of the new community center is a gigantic gymnasium!  Again, the schedule is a little confusing so the best bet is to download the Winter 2010 brochure.

Also in the brochure is information on classes.  My son takes the Toddler music class on Wednesday mornings and loves it.  It's $35 for 5 weeks to give you an average cost.  Non-residents may pay a few dollars more, but it's not much.  So check it out sometime and let me know what you think by either commenting below or emailing info@maltamama.com.
